Job:  Apprentice HGV Mechanic 

Salary: £12,347.46 - £22,071.09 (depending on age and level of qualification) + Tool Allowance of £38.70 per month 

Base: Cledford Lane, Middlewich 

Shift pattern: 37 hours / Monday - Friday / Rotating Shifts 6.00am – 2.00pm / 1.00pm – 9.00pm with rest break

Contract duration: Fixed term contract - 37 months

Ansa Environmental Services Ltd is currently seeking an Apprentice HGV Mechanic to join our values-led, growing environmental operations business. You will be based at our purpose-built Environmental Hub in Middlewich.

Working in the Fleet Workshop, you will be supported and guided to undertake a range of tasks on Ansa’s fleet vehicles, ranging from small plant machinery to HGV vehicles. 

Tasks will include:

  • Carrying out scheduled servicing inspection and preparation for testing as required for all fleet vehicles (HGV to small vehicles)
  • Carrying out MOT Tests (taxi)
  • Undertaking regular safety inspections of HGV's in accordance with the statutory requirements to maintain Goods Vehicle Operators Licence and repair defects as necessary
  • Inspecting vehicles, plant and specialist equipment to diagnose faults (mechanical/electrical/hydraulic) and repair as necessary
  • Completing all necessary records relating to the inspection, service and repair of all fleet items in accordance with statutory and administrative requirements
  • Liaising with colleagues, vehicle operatives and managers to prioritise workload, organise replacement parts and/or specialist support when required
  • Providing out of hours repairs and breakdown cover as required by front line services

To ensure your application has the best chance of being considered for the vacancy you must provide information on all qualifications undertaken stating highest grades achieved in every subject. Along with this please state any previous work experience. You will be required to attend Stoke-on-Trent college to complete your training and assessments on a regular basis.
