Team Leader - Street Cleansing

Salary: Grade 7 (£23,111 - £26,470 FTE)
Contract Type: Permanent - 37 Hours per week Monday to Friday with the requirement to work flexibly between the hours of 5:30am and 6pm
Location: Middlewich 

A vacancy has arisen within the Street Cleansing Service for the role of Team Leader. 

Working within a friendly and professional team, you will be a key member of staff performing day to day supervision, managing teams comprising of Street Cleansing Operatives and Mechanical Sweeper Drivers. 

You will apply your skills and experience to continually develop a cost effective and customer-focused operational team who are engaged in the daily delivery of all street cleansing operations.

In order to apply for the role, the ideal candidate will:

  • be educated to a minimum of GCSE level or equivalent
  • have previous relevant supervisory experience
  • have excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with customers, elected members and community groups
  • have the ability to effectively challenge behaviour in order to drive performance
  • be proficient in the use of IT including Microsoft office
  • have the ability to work on own initiative and as an effective member of a team

Valid driving licence is essential. The post holder must have the ability and willingness to work flexibly and be able to travel across the Borough as and when required.

Waste Reduction Volunteers

We are currently recruiting Waste Reduction Volunteers in the Cheshire East area. This involves volunteers going out into the community and schools and educating the public on the importance of recycling, reducing food waste and also to encourage more composting.

Grounds Operatives

Salary: Grade 4 (£16,491 - £17,772)

Work Base: Middlewich

We are currently looking to recruit two Grounds Operatives to work closely with Crewe Town Council. These roles will involve completing a range of maintenance and cleansing activities across Crewe to ensure it is a clean, safe and an attractive place to live with well-maintained streets and public spaces. Other activities will include street cleansing activities, the maintenance of public open spaces, horticultural features, highway verges, car parks, formal parks.

In order to apply for the role, applicants will need to have experience of operating a range of hand held equipment, i.e. blowers, jet washers, strimmer’s and pedestrian mowers. 

You will be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions and exert physical effort for the majority of the working day in order to fulfil the requirements of the role.

You will be able to interact and communicate effectively with members of the public in order to portray a professional image of our Company and the Town Council and deliver a quality service. 

Literacy and numeracy skills are essential along with the ability to use technology particularly a smart phone in order to take photographs, record tasks and post on social media when requested.

Applicants ideally will hold a current CPC and must hold a driving licence. 

You will be required to work in line with the Employee Code of Conduct and work as part of a team. The need to work in a safe manner is paramount and therefore an understanding of relevant safe working practices is required.

Contracts and Procurement Officer

Salary: Grade 9

Ansa Environmental Services Ltd is an environmental operations company wholly owned by Cheshire East Council. Its’ purpose is to provide waste collection, treatment and disposal; street cleansing, parks, grounds maintenance and fleet services to Cheshire East Council and other customers.

An opportunity has arisen for a Contract and Procurement Officer to join our Company to prepare, let and supervise all contracts and purchasing related to Environmental Operations which support the efficient and effective operation of Ansa’s business units. 

The post holder will ensure Ansa obtains continued value for money and compliance with procurement legislation as well as managing the relationships with suppliers and their performance so well-developed interpersonal skills such as communication, negotiation, influencing and persuasiveness are essential for this role.
