Street Cleansing Operative

  • 4 x Permanent roles

Hours of Work: 37 Hours per week (usually 6am to 2pm Monday to Thursday and 6am to 1:30pm Friday)

We have the opportunity to recruit a number of Street Cleansing Operatives to compliment our existing team.

The role of Street Cleansing Operative involves the completion of a range of tasks including litter picking, the emptying of litter and dog bins and removal of fly tipped waste as well as driving a 3.5 tonne transit tipper and operating a compact sweeper to ensure the Borough of Cheshire East is a clean, safe and attractive place to live.

In order to apply for the role, you should have knowledge of the Borough and an understanding of suitable cleansing methods.

You will be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions and exert physical effort for the majority of the working day in order to fulfil the requirements of the role.

You will be able to interact and communicate effectively with members of the public in order to portray a professional image of our Company and deliver a quality service.

You will be required to work in line with the Employee Code of Conduct and work as part of a team. The need to work in a safe manner is paramount and therefore an understanding of relevant safe working practices i.e. working on the highway and driver vehicle checks is required although full training will be given.

Applicants ideally will hold a current CPC and must hold a driving licence.

HGV Driver/Loader

We are looking for people who will be committed to providing an effective frontline service to the residents of Cheshire East by providing an effective waste collection service in a courteous, safe and efficient manner in line with Ansa’s policies, procedures, risk assessments and safe working practices.

As a professional driver, you will assist in the provision of Ansa’s waste and recycling service by:

  • carrying out daily vehicle checks, reporting defects and cleaning your vehicle regularly
  • using in cab technology to provide our Customer Contact Centre with real time information.
  • providing an effective collection of waste using wheeled bins, or sacks or other collection systems.
  • contribute to the completion of the service’s allocated work by supervising your crew effectively and assisting with the waste collection.
  • ensure that missed collections are rectified, assisted collections are completed and bins are returned back in the correct location after emptying.
  • work in a safe and efficient manner following Ansa’s policies, procedures, risk assessments and safe working practices

You will be required to work outdoors and exert ongoing physical effort to assist in the provision of Ansa’s waste and recycling service through undertaking the collection of waste using wheeled bins, sacks or other collection systems.

Previous experience is not essential as full training will be provided. However it would be advantageous if applicants have previous experience of working on the highway and manual handing techniques.

Contract Inspector 

Duration: temporary to permanent role

Grade:  Indicative Garde 6 (£20,138 - £22,658 FTE)

Ansa Environmental Services Ltd is looking to recruit a full time (37hrs) Contract Inspector to join our Company on a temporary basis for 12 months with the view to securing a permanent position. The role is to ensure that third party contracts are being operated and managed in accordance with contract terms and to provide assurance that contractors operating services for Ansa are complaint with all relevant legislation and contractual obligations.  

The post holder will ensure Ansa obtains continued value for money and compliance with procurement legislation as well as managing the relationships with suppliers and their performance.

In order to apply for the role, it is essential that you have:

  • an understanding of contract management and key performance issues and how to monitor; manage and rectify issues
  • an understanding of EU Public contract law and procurement processes
  • knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures particularly relating to safe working practices in Waste Management and Engineering
  • an understanding of the environmental industry, including legislation relating to waste management
  • supervisory experience and effective interpersonal skills
  • the ability to work unsupervised and on a loan worker basis
  • conflict resolution skills
  • relationship building skills
  • an understanding of civil engineering principles and their application to site maintenance and improvement work and site developments
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office, Waste permit systems and Outlook
  • the ability to run, evaluate and analyse reports
  • the ability to use other systems such as Oracle for placing orders and The Chest for gaining quotes/tenders
  • customer service skills and experience of dealing with complaints procedures
  • The ability to work with CCTV, digital cameras and handheld devices

Waste Reduction Volunteers

We are currently recruiting Waste Reduction Volunteers in the Cheshire East area. This involves volunteers going out into the community and schools and educating the public on the importance of recycling, reducing food waste and also to encourage more composting.
